Yet another cable question

Hi all,
I am knitting a cable pattern that calls for C6F, but it never calls for C6B.
Doesn’t a cable have to have both “hang in front” and in “back” in order to make a nice twist, or no?

no, a cable front goes one way and cable back goes the opposite. (I can never remember which is which!) A cable front only will repeat the cable direction kind of like this:

  /             A cable both front and back is more like this:
  /
  /                                                 /
  /                                                 \        kind of S like
                                                     /
                                                     \                         
                                                      /

I learnied to do a cable on this site; I made the Irish Hiking Scarf and it is so rewarding one of my favorite scarves. :smiley:

Haha! my great illustrations didn’t translate will in the submitting. I think you can get the idea. Front goes one way, back goes the other.
