I equally respect all yarn arts although I don’t really know how to do crochet any more than chain stitching.
My mom crocheted all the time when we were growing up and I liked knitting because it was different.
I realize that I have to learn to crochet too though- there are too many edgings etc plus a really pretty pattern I found that I want to make for my little sister.

I knit, and crochet is still not totally natural to me…but as much as I don’t care for the look of it, it is useful to know. There are so many knitting patterns you close the door to when you are afraid to try crochet!
I love to do both knitting and crocheting. I only do afghans with crocheting. Although I am making one now and I am knitting it.
I love doing fine crocheting with the string yarns. It looks like lace when done which I love doing. The smaller the needle or hook the better for me.

I prefer the look of knitting, but there is certainly nothing wrong with crochet! I like the way it’s used as a compliment to knitting like the border on knitted sweater for instance. And certainly, it makes more sense to crochet an afghan although I don’t know if I’ll ever do it.
I enjoy crocheting almost as much as knitting. It certainly is more forgiving of mistakes. Only 1 stitch to pick up when you’re done frogging. Hold your head high and enjoy.
Well I’m also a two timer in a sense- I’m all about multi tasking with my knitting. I watch movies, read, surf the net etc. Actually the other day I found this new application from Kodak that’s called Make Me Super. You upload a picture of yourself or anyone and make yourself into a 90s styled superhero! It’s really entertaining and I got a kick out of it while I knitted. I’ve been knitting for 2 years and just learned crochet about a month ago…I have to say, I am having a blast with it! Why not do both, right? LOL!
What afghan pattern are you making? I am crocheting a Spiderman Afghan off of Ravelry for my little grandson, for Christmas. It’s really coming along!

Over a year ago another forum had a discussion about knitting or crocheting afghans. A lot of people said that because crochet is so much faster, they will not knit an afghan. They will crochet it. So you’re smart. Wish I could crochet better.
I also crochet,but I do think knitted sweaters are nicer,they are softer and drape better but I don’t think I would ever knit an afagan it would take me 10years and a day.So I think knitting and crochet each have their place in our yarn addiction
I prefer knit, but I also crochet. Then there is the quilting and sewing… I’m addicted to it all…
The hardest part for me is sticking to one project before starting another - then I find myself back and forth between projects and it seems like they take forever to finish. My DH has given up… he doesn’t complain anymore about the yarn stashes and projects in every corner of the house.

Guilty as can be…I crochet and knit and of course there is spinning and fiber prep. OH do those cut into my knit/crochet time.
I can crochet or knit, and have been crocheting for longer than I’ve been knitting, but I learned how to do both about the same time.
Just recently finished knitting a pair of socks which called for a crocheted edging on the cuff. Crochet knowledge comes in really handy in these cases.
I have been crocheting for 26 years & knitting for 2 years now. Wish those were my only addicitions! I also sew, scrapbook & rubber stamp. Too many crafts not enough time. 
I only will crochet afghans & washcloths everything else I make is in knitting now that I have learned it.
I:roflhard: I used to crochet until my wrists just couldn’t take it, then I learned to knit. I really am loving this knitting, and now after going to a real yarn shop I’m afraid I"m becoming a yarn snob too.
I do both too, and it just depends on the look I want which one I’d rather do. When I first learned to knit, I would always have a crochet project going at the same time so I could go back and forth. I haven’t done that in a while though.
OMG - I’m with you! I knit, scrapbook/paper craft/rubber stamp, digiscrap, do general crafts, and am learning to crochet, sew, quilt, locker hook, and embroider. My crafts room runneth over! (Oh, and a friend wants to teach me to bead.)
I think that as long as you enjoy doing that craft and you haven’t gone bankrupt from it, do it!
