Yarny Christmas Gifts

So, did Father Christmas (or your significant other) take you up on all the hints you’ve dropped all year as to what to bring for Christmas? I was lucky to receive both the Knitpicks swift and ball winder. I had expected one to be kept back for my upcoming birthday, so I was very surprised to find them both under the tree.

Lots of fun there! My husband loved playing with it too and most of these are down to him!

I also received some fibre wash and some Lorna’s Laces sock yarn and a skein of Malabrigo Rastita too. Oh, and talking of hubby, the Secret Santa hand knitted scarf went down a treat. He was incredibly surprised as he thought I hadn’t made him anything. I couldn’t have given him a better gift if I’d tried.

You are a lucky girl. Glad to hear DH loved his scarf, your story warmed my heart as the scarf will warm him. You guys sure need warm clothing at the moment reading about the cold (really really seriously cold) happening over that side of the planet.

Ooh, lucky! My hints went unheeded; I think my family is still trying to get out from under the mountains of yarn I have amassed already! BTW, what’s the difference between a swift and a winder? I plead total ignorance.

Great gifts and such a surprise! Don’t wear them out before your birthday. :teehee:
People are fascinated by the ball winder. I don’t know about the swift as I’ve yet to acquire one.

So lucky! I got a set of needles from a friend for my birthday in November, but I usually do my own craft shopping. 3 years ago my dad got my mom a spinning wheal for Christmas, she’s yet to use it so I may “learn for her”. :stuck_out_tongue:

You are the best hinter, ever!
So glad that your husband appreciates that truly beautiful scarf, too.

Jinx, in the photo the swift is on the left and the winder on the right. Together they look like the kind of Rube Goldberg whirlygig that my husband would appreciate. He’d be out buying hanks of yarn just to watch it in action. Hmmmm, maybe not a bad idea.

Oh Brenda - I’m so happy for you! A swift plus winder is so very much fun. The scarf was a great surprise, if I remember correctly you knit it at lunch. What a labor of love!

My DH took the hint and got me a set of sock DPN that I’ve had my eyes on for awhile.

We have such great husbands! :inlove:

My DH also took the hints and purchased a floor OTT light for me as well as the Principles of Knitting book by June Hemmons Hyatt.
Love the light as I knit a lot in the evenings after work and I don’t have all the glare of the regular floor lamp. I’ve already made use of the book to look something up.

A swift holds the yarn for winding.

You both gat yarns gifts, Brenda! :teehee: Beautiful scarf and a thoughtful gift!

One of my daughters gave me 200 Fair Isle Motifs!

Oh! I want it! I LOVE fair isle.

Oh, Brenda, that looks simply wonderful! You may need to give lessons in hint dropping for next year

Glad to hear what a surprise the Secret Santa was. That really was the perfect gift.

I actually did more than drop hints, I left the Knit Picks magazine open with the page turned down and a big arrow pointing the the swift! I don’t do subtle. We discussed it too, what the best features were, what was a good price range etc, so it wasn’t exactly a surprise, but still very nice to see in the flash on Christmas morning.

Sounds like some of us got some nice yarny gifts too :cheering:
