How do you guys know how much yarn to order from say Knit picks and keep it as stash. What if you don’t have enough yarn for a project? Don’t you need to know what your going to make before you order yarn? :??
Yarn
You could always do what Ingrid does, and just order enough for a large sweater…

:roflhard: You guys are to funny. Guess I’ll do what Ingrid does and jusy buy alot and hide half from DH :oo:
I think Ingrid is a perfect role-model for yarn buying.
:roflhard: :roflhard: I don’t bother to hide it. Well, if it comes when nobody else is home. . .
I can always blame Ingrid and she lives far away
HECK no you don’t need to know what you’re making! Just buy 10 of everything and make sure that you buy 10 of something else that goes with it. Everytime you see a pattern/project that you think you MIGHT want to knit sometime in the next 10 years, buy enough yarn to make in in 3 different sizes in 4 colors. And, most importantly, learn these phrases: “no honey, I had that, remember? I bought it last August!”
“Well, at least I’m not gambling!” and finally “PLEASE! I could buy all this yarn at the yarn store, and pay at least double! I’m saving money!”
Oh, yes, the “But it was 50% off” is always a good excuse!
My excuse is usually, “but I got caught up in the heat of the auction! I couldn’t let someone else beat me by a dollar!”
I buy yarn with money I make from selling my books Idon’t want. When my son complains when another package comes in the mail full of yarn I say “I bought it with my eBay money.” He still says I have too much yarn but I just laugh. Ha ha, little man, don’t you know there is no such thing as too much yarn?
You guys are a BIG help!!! I used half of those excuses today I got a gift certifacate for LYS for my birthday Friday and spent it all and then some  OH this knitting is going to be dangerous
It is a slippery slope, indeed.
