I need to knit a pair of socks for my best friend for Christmas, however, I cannot find any DK weight yarn in red or black! Please help me out here! Can anyone point me to a place (online preferably) where there is cheap/soft dk weight yarn? My friend has size 8 feet.

There’s merino style (which is super soft) from Knitpicks. They have a couple colors of reddish and coal.

Valley Yarns at Webs has some worsted weight superwash merino that comes in red and black. I think they also give you a sock pattern with it.

And while Merino style is listed as a DK, it’s more of a light worsted, not much thinner than regular worsted weight.
