Yarn weight explanation/overview

Hi all,
I am generally new to knitting and am looking for an summary explanation of the yarn weights and what they mean. I need to know more about this so I can find cheaper yarn that will still work for my patterns. I have searched so many knitting and yarn sites, but haven’t come across this info yet. Does anyone know of a site where I can find this info? Thanks.
