Yarn Substitutions for Anthropologie Capelet

I am really wanting to knit the Anthropologie Inspired Capelet this weekend. However, I do not have any Rowan Polar yarn or a LYS within 150 miles of me (sad huh? :pout: ). I do have Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and Joannes. Is there a yarn that is comparable for this or has anyone else used a different yarn with good results? I would love to be able to cast on for this tomorrow on a long drive.

TIA!

I have made several now. I used RedHeart Shetland Chunky. I have also used Jiffy. Both turned out well. I think that something with a little fuzz to it would be nice also.

Thank You so much!!! I’m heading out in a bit to get some yarn. I really want to make this. It’s very pretty and looks sooo easy. I also love the idea of something slightly fuzzy. Makes it even more feminine  !

I made a couple with Red Heart Bijou. You can see them here and here if you like.

I was also inspired by a couple of the ladies around here to make one in Patons SWS.

Any sort of chunky yarn will work. Also quite a few people have doubled a thin worsted, like Caron’s Simply Soft, and did well with that.

I have made quite a few of these
I have Used Frog Tree (Size 7 needle), Burley Spun (size 13 Needle) and a couple other Bulky yarns
I find using one size up needles helps it to come out soft (UNLESS your working with Misti Baby Alpaca, then go down one)

just take the basic pattern
start with multiples of 6 + 1
the go from there

I also did an increase on the stitch that was on the inside of the 3 Knit on Right side each time
and you get a soft Kimono type overlap
also covers a Hefty Bust

just my brain sharing a LOT
