Yarn Substitution (sp) help, please!

I’m getting all pumped up to try and make something manly and macho for my husband. I picked this pattern from Knitty.

The only problem is that the yarn the designer recommends isn’t made anymore!! I’m still considered a newbie, I guess. I have NO IDEA what to substitute with!

Can someone help me figure it out? :slight_smile:

I think Plymouth Encore dk could work as a substitute. Lots of colors, washable, and not too expensive.
