Yarn Substitution Scarf Pattern Question

Afternoon all! I am trying to make a scarf similar to this one:

But I want to use Lion Homespun yarn. Is it possible to just switch out the yarn on patterns, as long as they’re the same weight? If not, does anyone know of a similar pattern that would work with Homespun? My mom loves this yarn, but wants something other than the run-of-the-mill garter stitch scarf. Thanks!

Homespun can be a booger to work with, especially on a yo/drop yo pattern like this. If you have some to practice with, see if you can work with it. But yes, you can switch yarns if they’re the same thickness.

I would think that Homespun would make this a VERY HEAVY scarf!

Thanks for your replies…well, I guess it’s back to the drawing board, then. My mom picked out the yarn, because she loved the colors and hates scratchy yarn. Hopefully I’ll be able to find a pattern for it!

You could do a ribbed scarf very easily with that yarn.
