I would like to make this sweater,http://www.knitting-crochet.com/coolcot.html with part of my existing cotton yarn stash. I have 24 balls of Monte Cristo cotton blend yarn, 50% cotton, 50% Acrylic. The pattern calls for 100% cotton. Can I substitute the Monte Cristo blend yarn for the 100% yarn and still have it come out right? I cast on 21 stitches and I get the required 4inches on size 7 needles.
This will be a new experience for me since I have never made anything but socks in my short 5 months of knitting. Its time to branch out and learn new things.
You should probably cast on more than just 21 stitches to measure. The edge sts tend not to be the same size as in the middle and curl under. So try about 30 sts and knit about 3", then wash it like you will the sweater when you’re done. Then see what happens.
