Yarn questions

Hi!

I am a complete newbie when it comes to knitting (I just started this week) and I purchased some inexpensive yarn to practice with. I was wondering what type of yarns all of you reccommend once I get more experienced. I definately want something way softer than what I have now (Caron’s Acrylic Perfect Match) but I still need something pretty affordable since I am a poor college student.

Just curious what the pros and cons were of different types of yarn. Also if anyone knows of anywhere online that is a real bargain (besides ebay) I’d appreciate to hear from you.

There are banner ads at the top of the site that has some affordable yarns for sale and other knitting accessories. :wink:

I would suggest that you spend a little bit of time feeling your way around a real yarn store (as opposed to Michaels or Hobby Lobby) so you can feel the difference between wools, wool blends, alpaca, angora, mohair, etc. You can also check out the different yarn weights…chunky, bulky, worsted, DK, fingering, etc. Find something you fall in LOVE wtih and do something with it!
