i got a pre-paid visa card with 100$ on it for christmas, perfect for buying yarn online! :happydance: but i have no idea what i should knit next! socks, and a sweater are next on my list of things to try, but i have no idea where i’d even start and what would be a good pattern. i’ve been searching the internet and haven’t found anything i can understand.
if anyone has any good challenging but understandable sock and sweater patterns they could reccommend, i’d be SOOO grateful. 
Yarn money- dont know what to spend it on!
I’d definitely start with Silver’s Sock Class…great instructions, tons of pictures, written for beginning knitters. 
As far as the sweater goes…I haven’t knit them personally but people rave about the Knitting Pure and Simple patterns. Top-down raglans are a great place to start because there is very minimal seaming.
I do think that starting with kid-sized socks, or a kid-sized sweater, if you have any to knit for, is good because you get to learn how everything fits together, but it’s much quicker and requires a lot less yarn.
