Yarn help/question

Hello all! I have been crocheting for about 3 years now and for the past 2 years I’ve been making scarves for a local St. Patrick’s day parade that o attend and sell them at.

I’ve just recently taught myself to knit, (yay!) and ice decided to add headbands to my items to sell. I thought a simple headband in 2 colors with a small loop at the join giving it a “pinched” look, like this

I thought orange with green for the main headband and white for the outer loop. But I ran into an issue with my yarn. I have red heart super saver yarn in 3 colors and they are all the same weight, but the orange is so much softer and more stretchy then the green and the final result seemed off to me. Is there any remedy to help with this?

I’ve noticed the same thing with orange RHSS. You could knit a swatch with each color and run them through the washer and dryer to see if that makes a difference. Sometimes the not so soft yarns soften a lot.
