I am sure I could have gotten most of this online … and the Noro is from Japan! The others are made in the U.K. Anyway, I am looking forward to remembering my trip with every stitch!
Yarn from London
Wow, it is all so beautiful! A trip and cool yarn? I’m officially jealous.
the further i scrolled down the more “favorites” i found. what yummy stuff you found! sigh knitting stores in Omaha just don’t seem enough when i see all that!
My wonderful husband had to work every single minute we were there … so … I was on my own and able to sight see AND yarn search to my hearts content without having to consider where he would like to go or what he wanted see… or how long I could get him to WAIT for me. I enjoy traveling with him on business trips in the summer when school is out. I have become quite good at venturing out on my own and finding my way back to the hotel in time have dinner with him. It was especially fun as my first “knitting” trip.
omg i LOVE the knitting magazine too!!! I’ve gotten a few issues from Borders or B&N but I totally can’t afford a subscription!
You are one lucky girl!
It kind of bothers me to say that when I see those yarns I get the same feeling as when I see a newborn baby. I’m so sick.
Wow, how is it that up until now I had missed the fact that you’re in Omaha??
(don’t mean to hijack the thread either)
Great finds!!! My mom just got back from London not too long ago and said that she couldn’t find any yarn shops. I don’t think that she was looking that hard though…
Everything I got was from a “department store”. I found Liberty in a thread on another site, The KIP girls told me about one … and when I was looking at magazines, there was another lady looking at the Knitting magazine so I asked her and she sent me down the street to the other one The KIP girls said you have to go further outside of London to get to a real LYS.
Ingrid, I can hear you saying … awwwwwwww… ohhhhhhhh and of course you have to touch.
ME TOO!
and smell it, and rub it against my cheek, give it a little squeeze. . .
You say that like it’s a bad thing. Isn’t that what we’re supposed to do?
YOU CAN GET ROWAN IN DEPARTMENT STORES IN THE UK??? Is it cheaper than it is here??? Rowan yarns are YUMMY!!!
:roflhard: <— KK throwing a jealous fit on the floor

Rowan yarn is made in Holmfirth, England, so, you would think it would be less expensive there. I don’t remember exactly what I paid but with the outrageous exchange rate I think they were about the same. The gray roawnspun dk was about 4 pounds 50 and on line it is $8.79. The others are about the same, too. If you didn’t have to double the price for US it would have been a bargain … and I would have had to buy an extra suitcase I think I paid more for the Noro than I would have on line.
I probably made better choices because they were so $$$$$. And I still love every one of them! I am going to use the yorkshire tweed and kidsilk haze to make flowers. It is so nice to have y’all to share with. My dh “way over” looking at my yarn.
OO-oo-oo, Rowan yarn. I have a book of purse patterns that call for Rowan DK cotton and I’m debating on whether to buy any. (Short on bucks this season; dd’s tuition is due.)
Everything looks gorgeous!!! I am green with envy.

:roflhard: No, but having a day on the town like KK and Hilde did might be interesting… Small world, eh?
There are still a zillion boxes to unpack from our move … but … I knitted the Gipsy Girl Flower from the kit above!
Pretty pretty pretty! I wants to make some flowers!
the yarn and flower and sounds as if you had a great trip!
