Yarn for Irish Hiking Scarf

Since it’s starting to get chilly here I wanted to make myself a scarf and I’ve decided to try the Irish Hiking Scarf since it looks nice and has gotten rave reviews from people here.

So, what yarn would you guys suggest to use? Would the Swish Superwash (http://www.knitpicks.com/yarns/itemid_5420153/yarn_display) from Knit Picks work? I want it to be a nice brown color, and I really like the Truffle color of that yarn.

Thanks!

Do you know if that yarn will fit the gauge of the scarf? That should be your first worry.

Other than that, it seems nice enough. It’s also pretty cheap in comparison to other good Merinos I’ve seen. So I’d say go for it

Gauge isn’t all that important in a scarf–go for something you love.

And almost anything will work. I made my first one with Red Heart acrylic and it’s gorgeous! :happydance:

The pattern just says to use a worsted weight yarn, which that is, so I think I’m just gonna go ahead and get it. I hope it’s as pretty and soft as it looks.

Thanks for the help ladies. I’m fairly new to the knitting scene and I just want to make sure that I don’t use the wrong yarn for a project.
