Yarn advice?

So, uh. I seem to have developed several requests for commissions (for wristwarmer-y things), and … I need to get yarn for them. Problem is, I don’t really have a LYS, so I can’t go fondle yarns to find good stuff. So.

What I need is worsted weight; one black, one green (the latter preferably variegated but solid okay too). Soft, not itchy (these will be next to skin). Not too expensive is also good. Available online is also-also good.

Suggestions?

I’m making some with Plymouth Encore. I washed the first pair and they are super soft now. It’s inexpensive, too.

Lorna’s Laces is extremely nice, but it is more money. Kind of depends on how much you want to spend.

Do you have a JoAnn’s or Hobby Lobby? You might find what you are wanting there. The Vanna’s Choice isn’t the softest yarns, but for an acrylic it isn’t bad. My middle child is currently knitting a hat made from this and it knits up easily and is softer than some of the other acrylic mass produced yarns I have felt. She has some variegated colors as well, but not green. Paton’s Astra is also a nice soft acrylic and has some variegated colors. Paton’s Grace is a very nice cotton that knits up nicely and has some variegated colors including greens. And SWS is lovely, not quite as soft, but not scratchy either. and might have something that sparks your fancy for your commissions.
