*Wyif, sl 1, k1*

I understand that “Wyif” means with yarn in front as if to purl, “sl 1” means slip 1, and “k1” means knit one, but I’m not sure if I am doing it correctly.

I understand that I need to slip a stitch with the yarn in front, but am I to knit with it in front as well? And if so, how?

I’ve tried different things, but I just don’t think I’m doing it right. My pattern says it’s suppose to be stockinette stitch on both sides of the piece, but I’m just not getting results.

If you have a little more of the row where it says to do this, that will help. You might bring the yarn back, but if not, that will make a YO to knit it. So how it’s worded will tell us more.

That is quite literally the entire row. I just to do that over and over again for 5" for a band of earmuffs. I had to PU 10 sts from previous purl stitches and then kfbl to increase it to 20.
