Wrong side, right side?

I am knitting a border on a baby blanket in garter stitch and it says to end on the wrong side, begin the pattern on the right side. How can I tell which is wrong and right?

There is no wrong or right side to garter stitch so you choose the side that you want to be front side and that will be your right side. I put a safety pin or marker on that side to remind me.

I thought the right side is the row you start on, and I meant to put a safety pin on it, but forgot. I guess it doesn’t matter with garter stitch.

Usually with a garter stitch pattern, when it says to end on the WS, that’s really telling you that your next row will be a RS row to switch stitch patterns.
