Hi everyone!
Last night, my mom showed me how to knit on double pointed needles. I thought my maiden voyage would be easy knitted wristlets for one of my daughters. I basically want to knit a tube, which will start at her knuckles and go 3/4 of the way up her arm. However, I need to know how to incorporate the hole for the thumb in this.
I’m knitting one right now that is basically just a big rectangle that you sew up the side and leave a space for the hole. Well, with the double pointed needles, there won’t be a seam so I need a bit of help understanding and “seeing” this process.
Any ideas would be abundantly appreciated.
Blessings,
Leslie
when you get where you want the thumb hole to be, you just work back and forth on your double pointed needles.
instead of working your way in a circle, when you get to the where the thumb is, you turn your work (just like knitting on long straight needles) and you go back, get to the end, turn. do this until the thumb hole is as long as you want and then you join back into a circle and knit in a tube until you’re done!
Oh-My-Gosh! How cool is THAT?
Thanks so much for that easier-than-I-thought answer. Even I can figure that out!
Thanks!
Blessings,
Leslie
