Wrap & Turn Problem

Is there such a thing has a double wrap for W&T (wrap & turn)? I have done short rows, but this is my first time for wrap and turn. I’m working on a baby sock and the pattern uses short rows and w&t to shape the heel.

I understand how to do the w&t, and I understand how to work (hide) the wraps as they appear. What I’m not clear about is there are several times in the pattern when the stitch I’m supposed to wrap has already been wrapped, so I don’t know if I’m supposed to work it (hide the wrap), or do I wrap it again (making a double wrap)? I’ve tried to find errata online for the pattern, but I can’t find anything.

The pattern is ‘Frilly Tops’ from Cute Knits for Baby Feet by Sue Whiting. The publisher is Krause Publishing. The part I’m stuck on is:

(working on 12 stitches for the short row):
row 1 - set up row to move stitches around, putting the other stitches on a spare needle, and wrap the first stitch)
row 2 - sl 1, Purl 9, wrap next stitch and turn
row 3 - sl 1, Knit 8, wrap next stitch and turn
row 4 - sl 1, Purl 7, wrap next stitch and turn
row 5 - sl 1, Knit 6, wrap next stitch and turn
row 6 - sl 1, Purl 5, wrap next stitch and turn (all good from here up, but the next row is where I start getting off on the wraps)
row 7 - sl 1, Knit 6, wrap next stitch and turn
row 8 - sl 1, Purl 7, wrap next stitch and turn
row 9 - sl 1, Knit 8, wrap next stitch and turn
row 10 - sl 1, Purl 9 wrap next stitch and turn
row 11 - sl 1, Knit 10, wrap next stitch and turn
row 12 - sl 1, Purl 11, wrap next stitch and turn (this will be from the spare needle)

I end up exactly where I’m supposed to be in the pattern, and with the correct stitch count, but like I said before, once I get to row 7, the stitch I’m supposed to wrap is already wrapped. So do I wrap it again, or do I work the stitch with the wrap? Then what?

I’ve tried it both ways and they both look wrong. I’ve made so many socks before without a problem, so this is really frustrating! :waah:

Yes, wrap it again. I have worked patterns with double wraps. When it’s time to work the double wrapped stitch, you will pick up both wraps as if they are one and work them together.

I did a google search on double wrapped stitches and found many sock patterns that use them in short row heels.

Hope that helps a bit!

Thank you - I’ll give it another try! Oh, one more thing, I’m getting two different answers when I search online. Is the sl 1 the wrapped stitch, or the stitch after you wrap and turn? One website said it is the wrapped stitch, another website said it is the next stitch.

For this pattern, it seems to be the wrapped stitch; otherwise the stitch counts gets off (see Row 12 - Sl 1, Purl 11 - which equals the 12 stitches). I would have never thought such a little sock could be so confusing!
