Wrap Stitch Help

I am a new knitter and I’m making the “Just Your Basic Baby Socks” pattern from the website here. The directions read for the short row heel…

“Knit across first needle. Knit across needles #2 & 3 until the last stitch. Bring yarn to the front as if to purl, then slip stitch” (1 wrap created – on purl rows, take yarn to back as if to knit before slipping stitch" Turn.

I think I got the concept of how to wrap a stitch, but most sites have said to slip it back onto the other needle before you turn the work. Should I be doing that here?

On my first try making this baby sock, I slipped the wrap stitch back on the other needle and my work got all lopsided… one side was clearly higher than the other… oops.

Here is Cat Bordhi’s video on wrapping and turning. I hope this helps.

Thank you… the video was VERY helpful. But I guess I’m still a little confused. In Cat’s video, she knits or purls up to the last wrapped stitch and creates a new wrap stitch. If the pattern I’m following ends up having me knit or purl over a wrapped stitch, I’m assuming I have to pull the loop over as Cat did in her video, and not just knit or purl over it regularly, yes? I’m not sure why I’m having such a hard time understanding the directions, but I am :frog:

It depends on if you’re doing multiple short rows or just one each direction. You may only be doing one each way, so you’d go to the picking up the wrap stitch directions.
