I have been knitting for a few years, but am still a novice. I thought I would try the Urbanista hat pattern by Wolly worm head.
I have learnt how to cable cast on, and have watched numerous videos on the wrap and turn technique. In this pattern however the wrap and turn technique is at the start of the second row… when I wrap and turn I have nothing left on my needles.
This is also the first time I have read a pattern in this format, so I am wondering if I am reading the patter wrong?
The end of the second row is kkkkk then wrap and turn.
The start of the 3rd row is ppppp
Sorry in advance, I am a novice, and am not sure of the correct way trying to explain myself.
thanks also in advance for any help what so ever!

What is the purpose of w&t?I am having an awful time trying to do it at the end of a row(guess it is actually the beginning of the next row?) Which I was more skilled at knitting-but I am trying. It sounds to me, like w&t would increase by the directions are saying to decrease!
A w&t typically increases the number of rows in an area of a pattern in order to add shaping. Sometimes you see it on the back of a collar for example. In doing the w&t, the number of active sts temporarily decreases but the inactive sts are worked later on in the pattern. There’s a step by step demo of w&t in the Free Videos tab at the top of this page under Advanced Techs if you need help in doing the w&t.
I guess I am a lot thick in the head. Here is the directions.
k1, p1 for 12 sts. W&T.
This is at the end and I am just not getting it.
Look on the Tips page (or maybe Advanced techniques) at the short row video for how to do it. There’s a tutorial here, too. It’s neither an increase nor decrease, it’s done on short rows to close the hole it would have if you just turned and worked back the sts on the next row.
You wrap a st by slipping it from the L to R needle, moving the yarn, slip the slip st back to L needle then turn, so it is done at the end of a row. Then at the beginning of the next row, bring the yarn around the slipped st so it’s in front of you to purl that row. That makes the yarn wrapped around the end stitch. So do k1 p1 for 12 sts, then slip and wrap the next st and turn to purl
