One of the members of a trucker forum to which I belong sent me a PM tonight telling me she is pregnant and asked me what I would charge her to make a pair of booties for her expected.
I can’t tell you how flattered I am that she would ask. But booties? Those are like little socks, right?
Is there a pattern for baby booties? I have no clue, guess I’ll have to do some searching.
Of course I won’t charge her for them, I’m just honored that she would ask me to make them for her. She said she thought it would be great if her baby’s feet were kept warm by something made by a fellow Road Dog.
That’s really sweet! Do check out the ones on the link that Dustina gave you. And booties have a tendency to get kicked off easily. I always liked ones with some ribbing to help hold them on.
I have taken to knit baby socks more than booties (okay there was a “boobies” typo there! :teehee:) because they are just so stinkin’ cute cuz they are so tiny. The North Country Cotton sock patternworks great for this. Super fast too. AND, as Jan mentioned, my friends have all said they stay on so much better than booties do!
I have been looking for an easy baby bootie pattern for my nephew… his wife is expecting and I made a little hoodie with worsted weight encore yarn… I wanted to use the same yarn, but all the bootie patterns seem to be dk weight yarn and little teeny weeny needles… I don’t really want to go buy #1 or 2 needles just for one project… would I really use those small needles again… I don’t know…
Yeah, I learned baby socks off of Amy’s lesson. I use Cream n’ Sugar and size 6 dpn. Fun little project and very portable. KG, with the stuff you do It’ll be a breeze
Here’s a super easy pattern that comes out nice - I’ve made a few pairs so far for friends who want them and they all love 'em:
There are so many kinds you can make - you can get fancy like baby Converse sneaker booties, little Merry Jane shoe/sock booties, etc. but a nice basic pair will do you good.
Just be sure the yarn is machine washable and you are good to go!
Congratulations. You will have fun with this project. It may even become addictive. I love making booties and little sweaters and hats. Post a picture when you are done. :knitting:

They do have a few to choose from, at KNITTING PATTERN CENTRAL, too.
They turn out so cute and tiny…:teehee:
I love these, but be aware if you use a different yarn and it’s worsted they come out the size to fit a toddler. :teehee: I should try again with baby yarn.
