Woven basket stitch

I am making Valley Yarns “Make Tracks Cardigan.” It has ‘woven basket stitch’ on it, and I did get the first row of knitting and twisting stitches, but now I’m doing the 2nd row, and I can’t get it. It reads: work 32 sts in woven basket stitch as follows: p first stitch then *p the second stitch, p first stitch. Rep from * to one st before next marker, p1. This makes no sense to me. Can anyone help me??

Purl the second stitch from the tip of the right needle, then purl the stitch closest to the tip (the ‘first’ stitch) then you slide them off together. It will cross the two stitches.
