I understand it loses strength, but I am considering unplying a super bulky skein. The strands seem thick enough.
That would be a lot of labor and would seem to be begging for a giant knot. It is twisted together.
I think it would lose strength. Unplied yarn pulls apart easily. It would also be a huge mess of tangles and pieces that have broken I think…
Why are you considering it? I would just buy the weight you want.
