Trying Silver’s sock class, still on the cuff, divided on 3 DPNs (size 2). Could I just divide the stitches in half on two DPNs and work the cuff that way, kind of like when socks are done on two circulars (not that I’ve tried them that way yet  ) , and then divide the stitches back onto three DPNs when I get to the appropriate length to start the heel? I thought it might help it go faster since it’s kind of stop-and-go with switching needles so frequently, plus less chance for laddering between each needle, especially if every so often I switch the last/first stiches to the opposite needle. Make sense?
Would this mess up a sock
I think that the reason working with two circs works is because of their flexibility. I don’t think it would work with two dpns. I’d think that if it was possible, it would be very popular–why have three at all?
Like Ingrid, I think two circs works because of the flexibility. But if by chance it does work, when you get to the heel, you won’t have to switch to three – half the stitches are worked, which is one of the reasons I think socks on 2 circs is easier than DPNs. No stitch shuffling!
