What are you all doing on WWKIP Day?
Some friends and I just started a Ladies’ Craft Night, and we get together on a Friday every month to knit, sew, crochet, embroider, etc. This month it will be on the 14th…which I see happens to be during WWKIP week! I know what I’ll be doing that night! :teehee:
I started knitting in public last week at work during my lunch break. I’d resisted for a long time because I have to concentrate so hard on my knitting that I was afraid I’d suddenly look up and realise it was 3pm or something stupid! I’m working on the second of a pair of socks, and I have to say that NO ONE has noticed yet! But I do work in an office full of men, lol!
Hmmm…I knit in public every day anyway. Everybody wants to know what I am making and see how it turns out; even some of the guys. The other day I was knitting in a Mexican restaurant while my son wolfed down a burrito. A lady came in and asked what I was making, and I told her it was a jellyfish tentacle. That will start a conversation! I was knitting a hat at the Dept. of Motor Vehicles once (that’s our notoriously slow place to register your car or renew your driver’s license; I’m sure you Brits have something similar) and the wait can stretch on for hours. A lady behind the counter wanted to know what I was knitting and I told her it was a very large hat, and she said, “Well I hope you don’t finish it while you are waiting!” which made some folks laugh and some glower.
And it was fun!
I blogged about it too. To those interested check out diary of a beginner knitter
