Work in patt - Thermal

Hi
now this is a really simple question, in Thermal (from Knitty) it has

Upper Back
Sizes F, G, H, J Only:
BO -[-, -, -, -, 7, 8, 8, 8] sts at beginning of next 2 rows. -[-, -, -, -, 120, 122, 136, 150] sts.

All Sizes:
Next Row [RS]: K2, ssk, work in patt to last 4 sts, k2tog, k2.

Work 1 row in patt, maintaining 3 sts at each edge in stockinette st.

Repeat these 2 rows 5[6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 7, 9, 11] times more. 88[92, 96, 98, 102, 102, 106, 116, 126] sts.

Work in patt until work measures 21[21.5, 22.5, 23, 23, 24, 24, 25, 25.5] inches (armhole measures 7[7.5, 7.5, 8, 8, 8.5, 8.5, 9, 9.5] inches from initial BO), ending with a WS row.

This ‘Work in patt’ - does it include the stocking stitch on the side mentioned earlier??

I don’t think so or it would have been specified as it was in the previous rows.

It does say to maintain the stockinette edge, so I think I’d go with that.

On second thought, I’d defer to Ingrid. It looks like the 3 sts of stockinette on either side must define the armhole.

Good thing for Ingrid. If it had been my sweater I’d have done it wrong :aww:

:notworthy:

what abou this section of the pattern?

Divide for Neckline Placket:
Work first 52[56, 59, 63, 66, 70, 73, 80, 87] sts of next round in patt as set. Place next 8 sts on waste yarn or safety pin for neckline placket. Turn work so WS is facing. I knitted row 1 of waffle stitch.

further instrucitons.

Continue as follows:
Row 1 [WS]: Work Row 2 of Waffle Stitch (following directions beginning with a RS row) to marker; work Row 1 of Waffle Stitch (following directions beginning with a WS row) to end.

are you supposed to work row 2 and row 1 of waffle stitch at the same time for ROw 1 after knitting the divide for neckline? if so when do you stop on row 2 of waffle stitch to start row on row 1 of waffle stitch?

I am knittin gin the round.

thanks

It looks like you start row 1 of the pattern after the marker.

knitting the sleeves now. The waffle stitch for knit in the round is k2,p2 for the first two rounds. The pattern requests that waffle stitch be knit for the first 2 rounds. I know it seems weird I’m asking this q even though I have already kind of answered it myself but, does it mean to knit the whole waffle stitch twice before starting the increases, or do I just k2,p2 for the first 2 rows of waffle stitch and then increase?
