Work Even?

Establish Pat St: Row 1 (RS): K23, SSK, k9, yo, k1, yo, k9, k2 tog, k to end.

Row 2 and all WS rows: Work even. Purl the center yo, k1, yo.

What does work even mean?

I feel like it should be very clear to me… but i’m not quite getting it

Work even means to work in your pattern stitch. Usually it also means without any increases or decreases to your stitch count, but the pattern row has both, though they balance each other so your stitch count will stay the same anyway.

So for row 2 and all WS rows, what exactly would i do?

Without knowing what the pattern is (a link to it or a name or picture helps) I think you probably purl those rows.

Thats the link to the pattern

Its supposed to be striped, two rows of each color, but I’m doing it solid

It looks like garter stitch for the first few rows, then switches to stockinette. So knit the WS rows except for the inc sts that you yo, k yo, on the RS which will be purled. Then you may be doing some rows in stockinette, then go back to the garter stitch pattern.

Motherhood has given me mommy brain, and completey sucked the knitting knowledge right out of me.

I am rusty :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll give it a try &&hopefully it pans out…

Thank you!
