What does that mean? I’m making little stocking caps; I’ve been doing a stockinette stitch then started the decreases by knitting 2 together; the next row is “work even” - not sure what that means. Thanks for the help.
It means to work your pattern ( in your case in stockinette stitch) without any increases or decreases.

Yes, in stockinette if your last row was a knit row, next is purl.
Once again, thanks. Now another question: I’m down to the last 4 stitches. Pattern says to pull the yarn thru all 4 stitches. I don’t bind off ? ? ?
Passing the tail of the yarn through the stitches is sort of a bind-off, but one that cinches the stitches together (so that it comes to a point, rather than having an edge), so you don’t need to do a separate bind-off. A lot of people like to thread the yarn through twice around to help secure it.
