I started knitting three weeks ago and I’m not use to reading patterns as yet. The pattern says “work even in stockinette stitch” what does work even mean? Thanks in advance.
“Work even” means to continue knitting in the current pattern for how many inches you need.
So for stockinette, you knit one row and purl the next row until your piece measures the desired length.
What she said, unless you’re knitting in the round, in which case, you knit every row.
Welcome to the world of knitting!:woohoo:
“Work even” also often follows a section in your knitting where you’ve been increasing or decreasing stitches, and “work even” means that you will continue in whatever stitch pattern you’ve been doing, but with no more increases or decreases.
