My pattern says work 10 Sts. SSk.
When I googled this it says I should copy the row below.
Why would the pattern not say K10 SSK?
Any help greatly appreciated.

What is the name and designer of your pattern?
Usually when a pattern says “work” there’s a pattern stitch which varies from one size to another. Work the sts may mean to continue the pattern established in preceding rows or knit the V stitches and purl the bumps.
In your case, it may well be k10, ssk but perhaps not for all sizes?
Ah ok. In the previous pattern rows it was CB3 and CF3… Although not sure how that works in 10. I will paste the pattern details here later. Thanks

It may be a knit the Vs and purl the bumps or it could just be the wonderful way of the designer.
It’s the shaping of the crown 3rd row - I am confused on what I should do for the work 10 sts…
This sounds like a conventional decrease for the crown. Unless the pattern photo shows otherwise, (K10, ssk) and repeat across the row. Row is purl and for row 5, (k9,ssk) repeat across the row. There are some patterns that keep some of the cables during the decrease but knowing the pattern name will make that clear.

Ah, thank you for the pattern link. So it’s not just a straight knit 10 but the pattern wants you to maintain the cable crosses as long as you can. If you have the sts to work the cable in the correct place, work the cable cross, otherwise knit the sts. You’ll have to look at the cable crosses in the rows below to determine where the cables go as the decrease rows are worked but as much as you can, keep the cables.
You can see in the photo that the cables become more random at the top with the decrease rows.
