Wool vs. mohair vs. alpaca - what are the differences?

I was wondering if anyone could either help explain or point me to some resources.

I know that wool comes from a sheep, mohair comes from a goat, and alpaca comes from… well, an alpaca.

Beyond that, I’m not really sure what the differences are. :?? Isn’t one of them hairy? And not easy to frog?

I would love to know the differences in regard to their softness (I know that’s a continuum and might be hard to quantify), feltiness, wearability, scratchiness/itchiness, knitting ease, frogging ability, and price.

Great link! Didn’t answer all of the questions I had, but it gave me a great start. :slight_smile:

From reading that, it sounded like alpaca was probably the warmest maybe.
