WIP: Traditional Aran Sweater

I started my very first sweater ever on September 24.

I am using Galway 100% wool in a light green. This is the back of the sweater. I am close to 17" in length at which point I start to make the raglan shape for the sleeve. There is one mistake which I don’t think is visible in this picture. I had to frog so many times before this error that I couldn’t bring myself to frog again so I have accepted the error as my personal touch.

It’s beautiful! I don’t see the error, and I’m sure no one else will either. Lovely work.

BEAUTIFUL!!!

It’s gorgeous!!:inlove:

I think it’s amazing for your first sweater!!! Absolutely wonderful :woot:

It’s looking wonderful!! I can’t see that mistake either. I’m sure no one else will.

The error is in the large center cable. I am glad it isn’t visible. when I noticed my error it was about three or four rows down and frogging that far I find it hard to keep track of what row I am on.
When I am wearing the sweater I am sure my long hair will cover the error. I don’t intend to make another error though!

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I am really enjoying this forum and all the members. I am learning a lot.
Have a great day all!:grphug:

really pretty :knitting:

Oh

my

gosh

I’m totally in love with that! :inlove:

What size it it?

I have always loved these type of sweaters. You’re doing a beautiful job of it. If the error doesn’t interfere with the pattern then people most likely won’t spot it, especially if you don’t mention it.

beautiful stitch pattern!

Wow, pretty! Love the pattern!

I am knitting the bust/chest size 36inch / 91 cm. The finished product will be 40inch / 102cm though. Full length to be 27 1/4 inches / 69 cm. The pattern has instructions from 34in/86cm to 44in/112cm.

It is very stretchy and still the pattern looks great when stretched out. Relaxed, as in the picture, it looks like a child size, doesn’t it?!

Happy to share pattern - pm me with your email address.

Lovely! I LOVE cables, and yours are stunning so far. I was recently discussing w/some ladies that there are many cultures who make INTENTIONAL mistakes in their works, because “nothing is perfect” (or, “only G-d is perfect”). So, your design feature not only makes your sweater truly yours, mistakes are nothing to be afraid of or bothered by!

That’s just WONDERFUL! I don’t think I’d have the patience to do this many cables… And I also consider “mistakes” a “personal touch”.

Wow thats your FIRST sweater? Your doing a wonderful job!!

It is absolutely sublime! What a wonderful cable blend!
Can’t wait to see more!!!

Just today I finished the back side up to where the raglan starts for the sleeves…and I am going to have to read the instructions a couple more hundred times before beginning the decs. :oo:
You just may see more posts from me asking - no begging for help.

Thank you everyone for your wonderful comments.

WOW. I am so thoroughly impressed. I am soo intimidated to do a huge project like that, sooo many opportunities to screw up! I think I would never finish. Power to you! I can’t wait to see the FO.

What mistake? I don’t see one. That’s absolutely stunning!
