WIP: This is what happens when...NOW FINISHED

…you substitute a yarn and don’t REALLY know what you’re doing!

I couldn’t find the suggested yarn for this bear, so I picked something else and didn’t buy enough. To make matters worse, I ordered the yarn online, so I can’t just zip over to the LYS and pick up another skein. I called all the local places around me and they don’t carry this yarn.

So I’m missing a leg and yarn to finish assembling. So while I’m waiting for my online shipment, I’m working on the vest and still have to stitch the nose and mouth.

Still a major pain in the ___ 'cuz I have to WAIT. Next time I’ll check with Ingrid first!!

EDIT:
Got the additional yarn and finished…pictures below

You could always make him the “one legged bear”, and list him as a handicapped toy. Hey…maybe he could live with the “Misfit Toys” on that island, you know?

:roflhard:

:rofling:

Maybe I could make a little crutch!

Since this yarn has a dye lot, I’m hoping the new skein matches well enough…otherwise he’ll look like a bear that did a poor job applying tanning lotion :roflhard:

I think it will turn out great!!! Even if your yarn doesn’t get there, you can make the leg out of a different colour and make little stockings for him. Anyway, wish I could knit like that!!

KK :XX:

Thats the best part about handmade things though, they are always unique! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Bummer about the yarn! I hope it arrives quickly so you can finish him up --he’s adorable (even in his current, one-legged, unassembled state).

He’ll be adorable when it’s done! Well worth the wait for the yarn.

Make him some pants!

oh my gosh, im really sorry, but i laughed when i saw that. it looked like a toy massacre! the little body parts. haha, im sorry that happened, but your pic is really cute! :roflhard:

Hooray! I finished!!

REALLY REALLY CUTE!!! :cheering:

Wow! :inlove: That looks like it was worth the wait. Are you keeping it for yourself?

:cheering:

That is a very cute bear! Love it!

He’s soooooo adorable! I LOVE HIM!!! He looks like Winnie the Pooh’s Grandpa!

I am in    with your bear!

I have to make him…lol. He is sooo cute. OMG, I am already imagining all the people I could give one too…lol

Where’d you get the pattern? Are any available online? How hard was it to do?

Very cute!

Thanks for all the compliments!

Are you keeping it for yourself?

Hepsibah: Actually it is for my husband. Seems a little strange, I know, but he loves this kind of stuff!

MsShelle: The pattern is from a book called “The Knitted Teddy Bear” by Sandra Polley. There is a link to it on Amazon in my profile below (guess I need to update that now that I’m not currently knitting him anymore!). Lots of cute bears in the book. This was the first one I tried. It was surprisingly easy…just lots of increasing and decreasing. Of course lots of seaming which is a pain, but he’s not very big so it wasn’t too bad.

He couldn’t be any cuter!! Nice work!!

Great work! He looks great!
