WIP T-top with no pattern

In our LYS social knitting group many of us are learning to make a T-top w/o a pattern. I used my sleeve as a gauge swatch and it happened to work out perfectly so I actually have my first sleeve! :cheering: It looks small, but will be normal size. We are doing it from the bottom up so after both sleeves and the bottom part of the top are done you join the sleeves and start raglan decreases for the bodice and neck.

Anyway, this is some stash yarn (cotton/acrylic) in a nice red. The photo color is a bit off as red is hard to photograph. Taken on my strawberry plants. :teehee: The bottom of the top and the sleeves will be this lace pattern. I got it from some book another woman had…it’s called vine lace.

The lacework is beautiful!! i can’t wait to see the finsihed product!!

wow, that looks really nice

Looks like a great start! I can’t wait to see it progress…

Looks really pretty. Love the scalloped edging, is that happening naturally with the lace pattern?

That is pretty although the thought of doing it without a pattern floors me!

Oh, I love the lace pattern. Can’t wait to see how it progresses.

Very pretty- I can’t wait to see the FO. I’m so impressed you’re doing this without a pattern…how do you do it exactly?

Looks great! I’m intrigued at the idea of doing the sleeves first.

Sleeves make a great swatch, you can try out the pattern and figure out your st gauge.

Looks great Jan. I like using lace for the bottom borders of T/tank tops.

Top down seems easier to me, but this is the way the ‘teacher’, who is really just a group member of our social knitting, is teaching us. The neat thing is its still all seamless! I’ll post more as I get further.

Thanks everyone!

I like the pattern and such a pretty color! Can’t wait to see how it looks.

This is so exciting! I can’t wait to see the progress. You are off to a great start - the sleeve is very pretty.

Got the second sleeve done, now to cast on the body! Woo! :yay:

Creativity is happening!! I love the idea of teaching/learning to do things without a pattern. Very liberating and you learn so much. This is looking good so far.

LOVE the pattern stitch! AND your photography! What a great backdrop! Can hardly wait to see your progress!!! I bought a book last weekend. It is a ‘how to design’ different sweaters without a pattern per se. Enlightening! It takes courage and confidence!

And someone to do the math for me! :roflhard:

Thanks! And those are my strawberry plants.

Very pretty…your projects are always amazing so I can’t wait to see the FO…
