In our LYS social knitting group many of us are learning to make a T-top w/o a pattern. I used my sleeve as a gauge swatch and it happened to work out perfectly so I actually have my first sleeve! :cheering: It looks small, but will be normal size. We are doing it from the bottom up so after both sleeves and the bottom part of the top are done you join the sleeves and start raglan decreases for the bodice and neck.
Anyway, this is some stash yarn (cotton/acrylic) in a nice red. The photo color is a bit off as red is hard to photograph. Taken on my strawberry plants. :teehee: The bottom of the top and the sleeves will be this lace pattern. I got it from some book another woman had…it’s called vine lace.
Top down seems easier to me, but this is the way the ‘teacher’, who is really just a group member of our social knitting, is teaching us. The neat thing is its still all seamless! I’ll post more as I get further.
Creativity is happening!! I love the idea of teaching/learning to do things without a pattern. Very liberating and you learn so much. This is looking good so far.
LOVE the pattern stitch! AND your photography! What a great backdrop! Can hardly wait to see your progress!!! I bought a book last weekend. It is a ‘how to design’ different sweaters without a pattern per se. Enlightening! It takes courage and confidence!
