I wrote about this project in the General forum. This is a scarf I’m making for my husband’s daughter for Christmas. I’ve always shied away from cables, thinking they would be so difficult, but they’re not at all.
Very pretty!
that looks great! :cheering: (makes me want to try cables…)
It’s beautiful! Can’t wait to see it finished!
Me Too!!!
That looks gorgeous.

Beautiful!
Great job! :cheering: :cheering:
That’s going to look great when its finished! :cheering:
Looks great! See, now don’t you wish you had tried cables earlier? Just like many said in the post on what they wish they knew when they were new, to not waste time being afraid to try things. Good job.
Is this the Irish Hiking Scarf pattern?
That’s so pretty! The cool thing about cables is they look hard and people are duly impressed. :teehee:
So pretty! What a great gift!
You’re all so wonderful, I just love coming to knitting help.
Well, I had a bit of bad luck with my scarf, but all is well now. I had dropped a stitch, and THOUGHT I’d picked it back up. I was nearing the last 20, or so, rows, when I picked it up to have a look. Way back where I’d dropped my stitch, I had picked up the wrong loop, throwing the pattern way off in that spot. I had to frog all the way back to that point, which was half the scarf, and start over. :waah:
But it’s fine now. I’ve already gotten back up to the point where I was. Oh, well. I’m just glad I looked. I’d have hated to finish the whole thing, only to find that I’d messed up. I’ll post another pic, as soon as it’s completed.
That’s really pretty :happydance:
Excellent job so far on that. One thing I’ve noticed, is that the things that look really intricate, like lace, or cabling is actually pretty easy, as long as you understand where you’re going with it. Keep it up and you’ll do just great! ![]()
very pretty – and it looks ultra soft. what are you using?
I’m sorry you had to frog back so much of the scarf. It always breaks my heart when I have to do that. But you know how it is, you rip back if the mistake is all you can see when you look at the project!
It looks great in the earlier pic! Keep it up, and don’t forget to take more pics when it’s done!
It is very soft. I’m using Debbie Bliss, cashmerino DK. It’s the first time I’ve ever used it. We usually don’t spend this much money on yarn, but since it’s a Christmas gift, we decided to get this yarn. The pattern called for the pure cashmere, but that’s not in my budget, even when I splurge.
Well, I’ve got it completed, and I need to block it, but I’ve got a question…
I usually use acrylic yarns, and block my projects by shaping and pinning them to a towel, spritzing them lightly with a water bottle, and letting it dry flat. Can I block cashmerino yarn the same way? I’ve never used it, and I don’t know.
I can’t answer your blocking question but I’d love to know where I can find that pattern…
Ooo! Beautiful! I can’t wait to see the finished product!
