WIP - baby sweater

Thisis an easy pattern for a beginner…so far anyway. I am using circs, not straights as she suggests, but I am knitting flat. It’s really very clever how the pattern is done. She says something about using DPN’s on the sleeves, but only gives instructions for flat although it’s attached to the shoulder. That part is a little weird. I’m hoping someone (Ingrid?) can help me with the sleeve. I think I can just pick up stitches like I did on my sweater and knit the sleeve in the round.

Sleeve detail.

That’s my favorite baby sweater pattern! And yes, to work the sleeves in the round, pick them up (and the extra under the arm) with dpns and work in the round, then you don’t have to sew at all with this sweater.

 Thank you! That’s what I figured. Not sure how many stitches to pick up, but I’ll work it out.

Awww so adorable

I got alot of baby yarn yesterday and I will have to try that

Without going to look, it’s the same as the straight instructions which I think was 3 under the arm. But as long as you have the same on both arms, you’ll be great!

Cute!! I really like that pattern.

Jan, that is adorable! Great job!

That is adorable!!

Ooooh, no sewing at all eh??? That’s music to my ears!

Are you going to add a zipper or anything to this one? It looks very nice, what kind of yarn is that?

No sewing if you knit the sleeves in the round. The pattern has you picking up stitches and then knitting flat. I’m not going to do that. Knitting in the round is just as easy and no seaming!

The yarn is left over from MY sweater. It’s Bernat’s Denim Style and is a nice yarn to work with.

I’m not positive what I’m going to do yet, but I didn’t make button holes. I “might” try putting on snaps or maybe velcro. Then I can put cute buttons on the front. I may also add a ribbon to the neck if I decide it’s for a girl.

Now THAT looks like a sweater I could handle. I just need to learn how to change it larger sizes, and I’ll be set for life!

Beautiful yarn choice - it’s lovely!

Thanks! Do you mean adult sizes? This one has a few kids sizes. The one I’m making says it’s for 6 mos, but it seems to be a little bigger. Been awhile since I’ve seen a kid that age though.

Here’s one that is similar for adults. Again though she has you doing the sleeves separately when I don’t see why they can’t be knit on circs! I might have to get some inexpensive yarn and give this a try.
