Winter is coming! Favorite scarf patterns for YOU to wear?

I just cast on enough stitches for 3x3 ribbing to repeat 3 times and knit away. No matter what I knit it with or what sized needles, it always comes out very warm. People have said that my scarf looks too thin, but I’m always warmer than many of the people wearing bulkier things. I think it’s because mine has more room to trap warm air next to my body!

I just do mine in ribbing and make it as wide as I want and as long as I want. I’ve made several this way for gifts, and people just love them. The ribbing tends to make them a bit thicker and warmer as it doesn’t spread out as much unless you stretch it out yourself.

I made the Branching Out in Lion Brand Jiffy (white) as part of the gifts I made for co-workers. It turned out really nicely (considering it was acrylic) and I think I’d like to do one for myself this year (in better yarn, of course). I also made my son the Irish Walking Scarf which was a fun pattern.

I do think the branching out deserves a beret to go with it.

i like the magic scarf. it can be done in the round or not but i do it in the round so i don’t have to purl. it looks like you did a LOT of hard work when you are done but is only done in stockinette stitch. the ripping at the end is a little scary at first but can be kind of cathartic  especially after having to rip out errors so often!..lol. i have done them on 16" circs and 12" circs and i think the 12 actually makes a nicer scarf just because it isn’t SOOOO big.

the first one i did though was with a nubby kind of yarn. it was much harder to pull that out than i would have anticipated just as an fyi!

OMGoodness, I can’t believe I didn’t mention my clappie, either  Thanks for remembering the beautiful clapotis, IrishBaby

I adore Danica from Knitty. Not only is it great looking, but you can use as many/few colors as you want. Plus, it looks really complicated, but it is really easy. Just knitting and purling.

One of the members of another forum just posted the link to this Ribbed Leaf Reversible Scarf:

Doesn’t it look fabulous? This one may be my next project…

 Oh my…that scarf is gorgeous…I must put it on my “to do list”…thanks

I am currently knitting a scarf for my brother out of Jaeger Matchmaker Merino 4ply. I chose a pattern from my knitting dictionary that is called “Diagonal Check Pattern”:

Row 1: p1, k4
Row 2: p3, k2
Row 3: repeat Row 2
Row 4: Repeat Row 1
Row 5: k1, p4
Row 6: k3, p2
Row 7: Repeat Row 6
Row 8: Repeat Row 5
Row 9: Repeat Rows 1-8

I figure I should be finished by the first snow :XX:

WOW… so many scarves to add to my to-do list… heheh

but i havta say… one of the EASIEST and QUICKEST scarves i’ve knit… is the elogated stitch one i found right here… on the first page of getting started! AND… i’ve gotten more compliments on that scarf… than i can count, and i’ve knit a couple, in different colors & for different people… AND i’d get complimented on the wip while commuting… (my favorite combination was gedifra mauritius & poisie) and QUICK did i say QUICK cause you’re using that elogated stitch…

also agree w/friskie kitty… LOVED making that so-called-scarf & you impress yourself once you get the stitch down.

ok thats my two cents
good luck!

& for this christmas instead of makin everyone a scarf… i think i’m doing wimples for the girls… (i gotta pattern in my knit a day calendar & they look cute) & NOW that danica scarf on knitty… for the guys (how HOT is that model btw)?
woah nelly
