I am hand-winding a center-pull ball from a hank, and I’m wondering if it matters (regarding twist) which end I start with. I’m nearly done, and I’ve done this many times, but I’ve always wondered it the yarn will twist more while knitting if you start with the wrong end. ?:??
No, It doesn’t matter which end you start with or which you start knitting with.
God love ya for hand winding a ball from a hank. You have more patience than I do.
What’s really taught me patience this week is spending about six hours undoing the huge knot all this yarn somehow got in after my daughter tried to “help” me by “unhanking” it. :hair:
But I’m almost done now, thank God!!
I do it all the time. Once you get the hang of it it goes pretty fast. Mine come out looking like the ones the ball winder does.
I’ve never even used a ball winder. I always wrap around two pencils, and you’re right, it’s really not much trouble.
