Why is this pattern so hard?

I went to Paris last month and bought some bamboo yarn and a simple pattern – it’s so simple – k 1, yarn over, knit 2 together til the last stitch, k1.

Why, oh why, if this is such a simple pattern, have I frogged the thing 5 times?

I am on my 6th attempt and I am pretty sure that I have managed to drop 2 stitches somewhere along the line and even though I cast on 32, now I have 30. :shrug:

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

:pout: I think with repetative patterns like that, sometimes we go into ‘automatic’ and miss something.

Have you tried a lifeline?

If you look at a row that’s off and you see where you missed a yo, you can just lift the bar between the stitches and call it a yo. If you’ve made one too many, let it off the needle.

If the back is worked plain, watch what you’re knitting into–a k or yo to make sure you’re on track.
