Whichi increase would you use?

I started on the 5 hour baby sweater last night. I am using cottonease and 10 1/2 needles.

I am about 13 rows in and questioning my chosen increase of lifting the horizontal bar inbetween stitches from the front and knitting it through the back. Lifted make 1 I think. I haven’t figured out a smooth way to do the called for backward loop increase. Does anyone have a good link to that? Anyway if you have made this what increase did you use?

Also the instructions on row 9…is she describing the same increase I have been doing(lifted make 1)?

Thank you for your help!

I would stick with the M1 increase as you’re doing. It’s the most invisible. Backward loop doesn’t make a great increase.

do you think row 9 is supposed to leave holes? Should I not be knitting it throught the back loop?

It does seem as if the Row 9 incs are to be made without knitting through the back loop, making a small hole for a lacey effect.
