Which yarn to use?

Hi,

I want to knit my brother a scarf like this one : http://alison.knitsmiths.us/pattern_orangebliss.html

but I want to do it in brown’s and Debbie Bliss Cashermino Superchunky does not do brown. I tried looking on Yarndex to find a similar wool, but it came up saying that the Debbie Bliss was ‘Super Bulky’ so when I looked for other ‘Super Bulky’ they all say to use larger needles than the pattern says.

Does anyone have a suitable alternative and should I stick to the needle size on the pattern or the recommendation given with the wool?

Amanda…you just use any brown yarn you love…its nuthin but 2x2 rib. You can cast on ANY multiple of 4 (+ an additional 2 so that you begin and end with k2) with any size needles that make your yarn feel nice and it will turn out just fine!

Thanks. I guess I am just panicking cos I only started knitting at the weekend - although I have made a scarf and hat already!

I’m sure my brother will understand if it doesn’t look right - he can have a ‘perfect’ one for christmas.
