Which sticht pattern would you use?

i’m making a scarf for my boyfriend’s mom and i want to do somthing different than garter stitch or rib, but i don’t want it to take me forever, I only have 2 days. I probable should have started earlier. :wall: does anyone have a recommendation?
thanks

How about basketweave??

Or check out the stitches Knitting Pattern Central and About Knitting.

Good Luck

Try the elongated st scarf…like on Amy’s video! VERY elegant!

Thanks so much. Those links are great. The basketweave is very pretty. I have already bought the yarn and it is sort of thick and 100% wool, i dont know if that would work with the elongated scarf? I also just found this post and i love the scarf. It may take me a little longer but she can wait. http://www.sheepinthecity.prettyposies.com/archives/000079.html

Thanks again for your help.

i just started on the scarf. im about 6 rows through, i already LOVE IT!! :happydance:

Yay! I am so glad you’re doing this!! I saw this pattern weeks ago, and loved it but I couldn’t figure out this part (in red):
K1, *sl 1, K1, psso but before dropping the slipped stitch from the left needle, knit into the back of it * repeat until there is one stitch left, K1

this means knit into the back of the slipped stitch I am passing over??? how’s that work? why does it say the slipped stitch that i’m passing over is on the LEFT needle… in my head it should be on the right  and how does the previous stitch (k1) not get in the way?

I feel like such a dork when i have to ask questions like this :wall:

Yes, you knit into the back of the slipped stitch, the one you pass over. You pass it over the knitted stitch and then you will have the sl 1 on the left needle and the knitted stitch on the right needle. (this is a bit awkward at first) then you knit into the back of the slipped stitch. I hope you give it a try, it is an awesome pattern.

hi guys, just to let you know, almost finished with the scarf, I LOVE IT :happydance: i love it, one for myself next, yay!!

Do we get to see a pic when it’s done?

i wish i could post a pic…no digital camera though. Maybe  i can borrow a friends…it turned out really nice…my boyfriend’s mom loves it

Ashley…Did you use the yarn called for in the pattern and if so, where did you find it?
