Which method of cast on is best for a seed stitch pattern?

Hi,

I’m relatively new to knitting and was wondering if any one of the cast on methods was better than another for a seed stitch pattern for a baby blanket. Also is there a better bind off method as well? Thanks!

For a cast on you can use the one you normally use, though there are variations of the longtail where you’d CO in ribbing which is what the first row of seed stitch is. But it probably won’t matter. When I’m using a stitch pattern at the edge I BO in pattern. The BO is only the part where you pass the 1st st over the next one, the rest of it is just working a normal row.
