Where to start a new ball of yarn

Where do I start a new ball of yarn, while knitting a cardigan sweater (top down)? Starting at the beginning of row seems wrong as the beginning of each row is the very front edge of my sweater.

I’ve finished the collar, and now I’m working on the raglan sleeve parts & button hole bands on each side. Repeating rows for the ragland (k1, yo, sm, k1, yo)… with a pearl row being next.

Someone suggested do it near the raglan shaping on the back…and pick up the new ball on a purl row, don’t tie a knot, just drop the yarn from the used up skein and pick up the new one. Being careful on the next couple of rows to keep the tension even in that area. Tie a knot and then weave the ends in and out of the purled loops.

I just don’t know if I can do that without it looking quite obvious.

does anyone have another suggestion?

I appreciate any help that you can offer. Thank you!
