Where is the BOR?

I have been knitting the hazel sweater by petite knit. I am doing my first sleeve.

Pick up and knit 90 (90) 96 (96) 102 (108) 114 (120) 126 sts from the RS with a 4 mm [US6] / 40 cm [16 inches] circular needle along the armhole. Start after the first 8 (8) 8 (8) 11 (11) 14 (14) 17 sts of the backward loop sts at the center of the underarm (the equivalent to the transition between p3 and k3 in the rib below).

Pick up and knit 1 stitch in every backward loop stitch, and approx. 2 sts for every 3 sts along the rest of the edge. Join in the round and place a marker for the beginning of the round.
Break the yarn and slip 36 (36) 36 (36) 42 (42) 48 (48) 54 sts from the left to the right needle without knitting them.

I’ve taken a photo of my underarm.

The two orange stitch markers delimit the underarm. When you cast on the underarms, there’s one stitch already and then you cast on 13 stitches, you connect with another stitch from the other side for a total of 15 stitches of 3X3 rib.

I can’t quite tell from the instructions where the BOR should be and this is important because it’s the basis for the short row shaping in the next section.

Is it start after the first 8 stitches of backward loop in the center of the underarm as in, start at the 9th backward loop stitch. Or 8 stitches after the center of the underarm? In which case it’s in right at the place you join the underarm to the rest of the sleeve (the left orange stitch marker)

Sounds like the BOR is after first 8 of the backward loop sts. That should fall at the transition from p3 to k3 (counting the one stitch already there for a total of 9sts, p3, k3, p3). Does that fit with what you have?
That places the beginning of round after the first 8 of the backward loop sts which should be the center of the underarm. It seems from the photo that the center of the underarm is a bit to the left but that blue marker on the left would be the p3/k3 transition. (Are there 3sts between the blue markers or 4?)
