hi, this is my first big knitting project and i am having some difficulties knowing where to increse the sts. i am assuming that is one st in each end but wanted to make sure before i messed up because i really want this to work out!

You can increase anywhere along the row typically 1/3 and 2/3 the way along. Increasing at each end would be fine too.
