When working with circular needles, how do I turn my work to create an opening?

I recently purchased a pattern for a belaclava and am using circular needles. I am at a point where the instructions say to “turn”, followed by a few more rows that “turn”. This is my first project working with circular needles and cannot figure this out. The pattern did not provide instructions on how to turn. any help is greatly appreciated  Thank you. Jean

If the instructions are simply to turn for the opening, then turn as you would at the end of a row. Ignore any sts remaining on the left needle, turn and knit or purl with the wrong side facing you.
