When to twist in a cable

I am a beginner…and I mean “real” beginner
I watched the video on how to do the cables (Advanced Techniques Tab), I just didn’t get it when she said “one row you have to twist”…when do you twist? and is it the cable needle that you need to twist?

please help!

“twisting” does not mean to twist the needle. The twist is caused by holding the specified stitches on the cable needle either to the front or the back of the work…and out of the way…while you knit the next few stitches and then go back to knit the saved stitches off of the cable needle. Depending on if you hold the cable needle to the front or the back the cable will “twist” either left or right.

Make sense?
